What is the SC-DREAM Project?

SC-DREAM is a teacher preparation pathway designed for individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree and who are interested in transitioning from their current profession to become an elementary teacher within a partner school district in South Carolina. SC-DREAM aims to uplift the assets individuals and communities possess through a strengths-based approach and create a more diverse teaching workforce to better reflect the students served within our South Carolina elementary classrooms. In collaboration with partner districts and schools, SC-DREAM equips educators to meet students’ academic, social, behavioral, and emotional needs in high-need districts through our collective efforts of equity-centered multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).

As a SC-DREAM resident, you will receive both professional and financial support as you pursue a Master of Arts in Teaching degree and an elementary education teaching certification in 18-months. Simultaneously, you will engage in a unique, year-long residency experience working alongside a coaching teacher in an elementary classroom (grades 2-6). Following certification, CarolinaTIP provides induction support during your initial years of teaching.

*Project funded by the US Department of Education's Office of Elementary and Secondary Education

This three-year program helps new teachers make the transition from learning how to teach to teaching and leading in classrooms of their own. The program provides support to novice teachers through CarolinaTIP Teacher Sessions, personalized coaching, and a community of novice educators. Through completion of the program and with the guidance of Carolina Coaches, participating teachers are able to increase their self-efficacy and build a solid professional foundation.
